What it is

Wix is a hosted website builder that lets people generate a site from a prompt or start from a template and edit it with a drag-and-drop editor. It suits small businesses, freelancers and creators who want hosting, domains, e-commerce, bookings and marketing in one place, with a free plan and paid plans from $17 per month billed yearly. Payments and e-commerce start on the Core plan. Reviewers mention a laggy editor on heavy pages, add-on costs and renewal price rises.

Standout capability

The widest set of built-in business apps of any mainstream drag-and-drop builder.

What people praise

Users say non-technical people can get a polished site live quickly, and they like the templates and having stores, bookings and forms built in.

What people complain about

Recurring complaints are a sluggish editor on complex pages, a template you cannot swap later without rebuilding, extra paid add-ons and renewal price increases.
